Icelandic horses, like the icelandic people have very pure gene pools because they have been mostly isolated for thousands of years. It is illegal to bring any horses to iceland, or even bring any icelandic horses back after they have been somewhere else, this way they stay perfect. They are slightly smaller than other horses because natural selection during their last ice age gave smaller horses the advantage-they could find small places to hide from the cold, and could eat less when food was scarce.

sheep are everywhere, you can count them to fall asleep.

skri birds. We can't remember how you spell it, but they call them skri birds because that is the screeching sound that they make when they dive at your head. These are not nice birds. If you get close to their nests which are everywhere, they freak out. We read that if you put an umbrella over your head, they won't attack you-as David demonstrates below.
