yesterday was my birthday, and i set up my first hive of honey bees successfully. i think...installing them went well, wasn't as scary as i thought it would be.
but today....today i am scared.
a standard hive is about 10,000 bees, they all fit in that box you see with the screen on it.
i put them in their new home last night after sunset, and they were sleepy, and all clumped together. i just went outside to check on them and dear oh dear, they are everywhere!
you really cant walk a foot without bumping into a herd. i hope that they are just scavenging and exploring, and that they settle down and spread out soon. they are supposed get food from a 3 mile radius around their hive, but i am pretty sure all 10,000 of them are out and about in just my yard right now. i pray that they don't swarm and leave me, and that i really am cut out for this....
please oh please calm down bees, or no one will ever want to come to my house again!

k first of all i of course remember you and i'm so glad you finally commented so now i have your blog. also you are the cutest girl. and i love your photography. that top picture of you and your husband in san francisco is gorgeous and i was just thinking today about someday when we get a house and yard i want to get bees. along with a million other things.
