fall is now under a layer of freezing snow, or in our driveway's case, a thick layer of ice. for a while in our back yard, the layer of leaves looked like freshly fallen snow, with no tracks. this year it is especially weird to see our yard with no leaves on the trees. we lost about twenty trees this year to various things so it already feels barren, but now i feel especially exposed.
some of my favorite recipes this fall have been this cranberry upside-down cake (i used greek yogurt once instead of sour cream and it was better), and this butternut squash and lentil salad (i doubled all spices and dressings). they feel perfect for the season, both are easy and have fantastic flavor.

yummy! those recipes are right up my alley. here i cometh. your backyard looks so pretty in the fall. I love your wild section with the overhang branches. I can't wait to work on our yard (it is so haggard right now, we look like wt).
