I really don't have too much to say about Ivy's first couple of months here. Everyone knows how crazy it is to have your first baby. It so hard and so rewarding. It is the best thing in the world.

I think we did really well for the first three weeks, then hormones hit and my body realized it was tired, and then we had a rough patch for the next few weeks. Ivy wasn't gaining weight for a long time, and she didn't get back up to her birth weight until almost 6 weeks. After about 7 weeks I felt like I was starting to become myself again.

I love this little nugget. I can't believe how fast she is growing up.

One night when I was a hormonal mess I was looking at Ivy and realized that her her head shape had changed since birth, and that she didn't have the distinct crown ridge that she did when she was born. And I couldn't stop crying. I lost it. I was so sad that parts of her had already changed and newborn baby ivy was never coming back.

When Ivy was born we didn't feel like the name that we had previously picked out for her fit.
In fact, it was the first thing I thought when I saw her and I have a really ugly picture of my face while I said it. I will probably never show you that picture.  So we called her "baby" or "andrew" for the first week because she looked just like our nephew, andrew.

Then we chose Ivy. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite name of the bunch we liked, but it is what seemed to fit. And I think it fits perfectly now and I love it for her.
I liked the name Vine independently of Ivy.  It is really just by chance that we put them together and that there is such a thing as an ivy vine.
Some people laugh out loud when I tell them her full name, some think I am joking, others love it.
I love it.

We have a lot of names for her.
Our nurse at the hospital called her "hunny" and I honestly think that is why I call her hunny. That is the first name someone gave her I guess, unless you want to count Andrew.
But I prefer to think of it as "honey".
